The Master of Visual Arts is aimed at those who wish to enhance and consolidate their professional expertise through high level study with expert staff. The program prepares students for careers as practicing artists or for careers in public organizations such as galleries and museums or in private enterprise, or for research-intensive graduate study.
Prerequisites
A cognate 4 year bachelor degree (Honours) or a Bachelor degree and a fourth year of post-bachelor study or a 3 year Bachelor degree in a cognate area and 1 – 2 years relevant professional experience or a Graduate Certificate in Visual Arts or a Graduate Diploma in Visual Arts (with 50% credit).
Students must nominate a primary Workshop area on application. Entry to subsidiary Workshop areas is negotiated with Workshop Heads prior to enrolment in specific courses.
Applicants must submit a Curriculum Vitae and a Portfolio to substantiate skills and experience. Curriculum Vitae should include: Academic qualifications, short courses attended, exhibition history, publications, arts-related employment, prizes, membership of arts-related organizations, committee membership, any other relevant information. Portfolio: This can be in the form of digital images, website, video or other form. Images should include a range of recent artworks relevant to the disciplinary area to which entry is sought.
