Master of Applied Statistics
Degree Structure
The program is 48 units consisting of 36 units of core statistics study and 12 units of elective courses.
Individual candidate degree structures will depend on previously attained qualifications and will be prescribed in consultation with the Program Coordinator. Courses of similar content and level to those previously completed by a candidate (and for which status could not be granted) may not be included as part of the degree.
Core Courses (36 units)
Choose 6 courses from the list below. These courses deal with basic statistical skills and the development of more advanced skills. Note: not all of these courses are offered in any one year.

Elective Courses (12 units)
Elective courses, focused on quantitative skills, are to be chosen from the postgraduate courses offered within the ANU College of Business and Economics or the School of Mathematics.
Students may choose to include further courses from the Core Statistics series that have not already been included in their program.
Students may opt to replace up to 12 units with directed readings leading to a sub-thesis under the supervision of a staff member in the School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Applied Statistics.
Students must discuss their choices with the program convenor.
