| Course Description |
This course is designed to be taken with BIOL8221 to give students the opportunity to extend their practical experience in advanced population genetic analysis. The course is underpinned by the theory presented in BIOL8221 and provides students the opportunity to enhance their depth of understanding of the theory; strengthen analytical and computing skills; and further enhance oral and written skills. |
| Learning Outcomes |
On satisfying the requirements of this course, students will have the knowledge and skills to: 1. Use software packages such as GenAlEx with proficiency and confidence to conduct a research project involving the analysis of real population genetic data with minimal supervision |

Written report that demonstrates capacity to analyse, interpret and critically evaluate real data sets in relation to the literature and the biological context (100%; LO 1-3) |

| Eligibility |
Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a major in the field of biological science with relevant experience or academic achievement. First year Biology, first year Genetics and first year Statistics are recommended. First year Chemistry is desirable. |
