| Course Description |
The course will provide students with an introduction to a communicative command of Burmese, with emphasis on interactive use of the language in commonly occurring situations. There will also be an introduction to a reading command of the Burmese script. |
| Indicative Assessment |
Mid-course oral examination (20%), end of course oral examination (30%), instructors' assessment of classroom performance and participation (10%), written tests and assignments (40%). |

Minimum enrolment requirementThis course requires a minimum of 10 students for it to run. NB Due to insufficient enrolments, this course will NOT run in 1st Semester, 2012 Burmese within the Asian Language MajorBurmese instruction is supported by the Southeast Asian Centre. Burmese may be included in the study sequence for most of the Asian languages on offer in the College, but students must satisfy the minimum requirements for their designated Asian language major and should seek advice from the Sub Dean or the relevant language convenor. |
