| Course Description |
Glass Design 4 develops advanced skills in hand blown glass, kiln casting and advanced cold forming. Technical demonstrations and hands on classes are the key teaching methods employed. Set design based projects that explore advanced model making and the development of resolved prototypes are a main focus. These projects also allow individual exploration of concepts and techniques for the development of an original body of designed based research. Theory is presented through a lecture and discussion format with a focus on contemporary design and its relationship to the broader art arena. Group discussion and critique sessions further extend awareness of design practice and students show developing works and related contextual material to staff and fellow students. Occupational health and safety instruction is integrated thought the syllabus. |
