Glass Design 5 allows students to focus on areas of practice that extend their own design interests. Technical demonstrations, hands on classes and individual tutorials are the main teaching method. The syllabus includes self-directed projects that allow the development of a body of individual design research. This will include concentration on clear design planning through briefs, concept articulation, and resolution of completed works via prototyping processes. Studio theory is delivered in lecture and discussion format, focusing on contemporary themes relevant to the designer/maker. Group discussion and critique sessions further extend the awareness of the area of design and students show works and specific contextual material to staff and students.
