Course Description

This course is designed to immerse students in key corporate finance research and research methods, thereby providing them with a framework for considering a wide range of corporate finance problems and issues. The material studied during the course is a blend of key theoretical and empirical corpoate finance work, with particular emphasis placed on the interface between theoretical models and empirical tests of these models. Moreover, classes will use the literature as a base from which to develop and test corporate finance research questions and communicating the results of this testing to finance scholars and practitioners alike.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the requirements for this course, students will:

  • have developed a framework for considering corporate finance problems and issues
  • have obtain an in-depth understanding of corporate finance theory and practice.
  • understand the interface between theoretical models and empirical tests of these models
  • have the ability to develop and test corporate finance research questions and communicate the results

Eligibility

At least an average of 65% (or equivalent) in the final two years of an Australian undergraduate degree with at least one year of university level study in quantitative analysis, including basic mathematics and data analysis techniques.
