Students continue their study of Ancient Greek literature, culture, history and language through the close study of a single author, a genre, or a theme. The special topic for each course (one per semester) will be announced in the previous year. The class will read the prescribed text in class. Topics for discussion will emerge from the reading. There will be further tuition in and revision of the grammar and syntax of Ancient Greek.

GREK2125 is offered every semester. Students may enrol in this course code more than once.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

1. Identify  grammatical constructions and remember significant vocabulary
2. demonstrate Ancient Greek language skills by reading with understanding some passages of the author studied at sight; other passages with the aid of a dictionary and a commentary
3. Analyse the compositional style of the author studied and understand the impact of this style on the audience or reader
4. Set the text studied in its historical, social and cultural context
