The primary degree of the College of Asia and the Pacific is the Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies (BAPS), which may be enhanced with the one-year study abroad program Graduate Diploma in Asia-Pacific Studies. This degree is built around two academic goals:
1. Learning a language of the Asia Pacific region
In order to fully understand the Asia Pacific region, advanced ability in one of its langauges is crucial. No previous knowledge of a regional language is expected, but students with some language background may be placed into a higher level (native speakers may be excluded from specialising in their native language).
2. Understanding the context of the Asia Pacific region
True fluency of the Asia Pacific region is achieved by complementing regional language skills with an understanding of the region's context through, for example, the study of history, society, politics, literature, cultures, and linguistics
In the Bachelor of Visual Arts at ANU, students develop and refine high-level technical and creative skills, and knowledge for working with the forms, materials and technologies of their chosen studio discipline. The degree features majors in Ceramics, Digital Media, Furniture, Glass, Gold and Silversmithing, Painting, Photomedia, Printmedia and Drawing, Sculpture, and Textiles. Students also have the opportunity to study in complementary areas such as life drawing, bookmaking, etching, papermaking, and screen printing. The degree also prepares students to work independently and collaboratively to plan and participate in exhibitions of their creative works.
Visual arts students are able to take advantage of the close proximity of the ANU School of Art to the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, ScreenSound Australia, the National Library of Australia, the National Museum of Australia, and the Canberra Museum and Gallery, with some classes held in one or more of those institutions.

Admission Requirements
Admission to all programs is on a competitive basis, taking into account all relevant academic qualifications. If you hold more than one qualification, admission will be based on your overall record. Tertiary qualifications are generally weighted more heavily than secondary. If you have completed an approved tertiary preparation course or alternative entry scheme, you will be assessed on the results of that scheme alone, unless you have undertaken subsequent study.

The table below is a guide to the entry level required for domestic applicants. Exact entry level will be set at time of offer.
