Program Requirements

The Master of Military Studies is a 48-unit qualification and can be completed in one year full-time.  Candidates are required to complete 8 of the following 6-unit courses (only 8 of these courses will be offered each year).

STST8100 Australia's Strategic Environment and Policy I (M)

STST8101 Australia's Strategic Environment and Policy II (M)

STST8102 The Theory and Practice of Strategy (M)

STST8103 Australian Defence Organisation (M)

STST8104 The Theory and Practice of Military Operations I (M)

STST8105 The Theory and Practice of Military Operations II (M)

STST8106 The Theory and Practice of Military Operations III (M)

STST8107 The Theory and Practice of Military Operations IV (M)

STST8108 Special Topic in Military Studies (M)

The requirement for award of the MMS will be a minimum of Pass (50 per cent) in each course and a weighted average of 60 per cent (credit) or above in the coursework overall.

MMS students who do not complete the coursework of the program but achieve a Pass in at least 4 courses (24 units) may be eligible to transfer to the GCMS.

MMS students who achieve a Pass in each course and a weighted average of less than 60 per cent may be eligible to transfer to the GDMS.

MSS students who Pass every course and who achieve a weighted average of 70 percent (Distinction) or above in the coursework overall will be eligible for admission into the Masters of Arts (Military Studies).
