Graduate Certificate in Strategic Studies
The GCSS is a 24-unit qualification and can be completed in one semester full-time. Candidates are required to complete:
At least one of the following SDSC 12-unit courses:
STST8001 Strategic Studies
STST8002 Grand Strategies in the Asia-Pacific
And 12 units of other SDSC elective courses. Students might consider courses from the following indicative list, when offered:
STST8004 Australian Defence and Strategic Policy
STST8013 China's Defence and Strategic Challenges
STST8017 Special Topic in Strategic Studies
STST8021 Intelligence and Security
STST8026 Nuclear Strategy in the Asian Century
STST8027 Insurgency and Counterinsurgency in an Age of Terror
STST8028 Global Security Actors? NATO and the European Union
STST8051 Great and Powerful Friends
STST8052 Strategy in Action: The Development of the Operational Art
Students who complete the 24 units of coursework in the GCSS with a minimum grade of pass in each course and a 50% weighted average over all courses may be eligible to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies with 24 units of status.
Students who complete the 24 units of coursework in the GCSS with a minimum grade of pass in each course and a 70% weighted average may be eligible to transfer to the Master of Strategic Studies with 24 units of status.
